Our Executive Chef
Having grown up in South West, Elly Wentworth has been cooking since she was 13 and studied Professional Cookery at City College Plymouth.
She first worked at the 3 AA rosette Tanners Restaurant in Plymouth under Chris Tanner and James Tanner and went on to eventually work in 3 different One Michelin Star kitchens - The Elephant under Simon Hulstone, The Bybrook at the Manor House under Richard Davies and Restaurant Hywell Jones at Lucknam Park.
She has proven this beyond doubt - having competed in the prestigious Royal Academy of Culinary Arts awards, Elly was one of only four chefs to be given an Award of Excellence and coming runner up in 2016 Professional Masterchef.
With that wealth of experience, Elly understands that accomplishments only come with hard work, and testament to this is the many awards, including Food Drink Devon Best Chef 2022, she has won over the last few years.
At The Angel Elly is focusing on using local ingredients in the best possible way, maximising the flavour; creating a unique dining experience.
With the history of The Angel, under the great success and leadership of Joyce Molyneux, The Holland Group very much wanted the next chapter of the restaurant to be led by one of the top female rising culinary stars. Elly is now Executive Chef of the Holland Group.
Brandon Head – Chef de Partie
Brandon, now 26, has worked with Elly for three years and successfully progressed from Commis Chef to Junior Sous Chef. He is an extremely talented chef, with a very level head! Brandon has completed his level 2 and 3 in Culinary Skills with HIT Training, and is always looking to learn more.
We love having him on the team, he makes us smile every day!
Kay Rowlands - Front of House Manager
Kay joins us from Weston Super Mare and has worked in the hospitality industry since a very young age.
Her managerial front of house experience is extensive, and she was delighted when the opportunity to work with Head Chef Elly co-oincided with relocating her family to Dartmouth.
Look out for Kays speciality and passion when you dine with us...developing new cocktails! They are always on the menu!
